Who We Are
At the Lilburn church of Christ, we are people who have willingly submitted our lives to God in Christ. Our authority for worship comes from the word of God. We have put aside our old selves and we are renewed in the spirit of our mind thus putting on the new self which in the likeness of God has been created in the righteousness and holiness of the truth. (Ephesians 4.21 – 24).
Our goal as Christ's own possession is that we are those who have had our eyes opened to turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God.
As Christ's own, we have taken on Christ in baptism and are united with Christ in the likeness of His death to be raised in the likeness of His resurrection. Our old selves being crucified with Him, being freed from sin. (Romans 6.3 – 7). Sin does not reign in us. But our responsibility is to present ourselves to God as those alive from the dead and our members as instruments of righteousness to God. Sin shall not be master over us. (Romans 6.12 – 14).
Thus, we are members of the body of Christ. We assemble as the Church of Christ which is simply the congregation of our Lord and Savior. We are collectively known as the Bride of Christ and therefore subject to only our LORD and Savior. (Ephesians 5).
We have many different aspects of our lives. We love, we provide, we have work, we cry, we laugh, we have hard times and good times. We are not faultless, but the one overwhelming aspect of unity is our willingness to serve one another in the same spirit that Christ served. (Matthew 5.43 - 48, Matthew 22.37 - 39, Mark 12.29 - 30, Colossians 3).
Come and let us worship our God together.
